How to play

How to play the K-pop Crossword

The grid holds K-pop group names that cross at shared letters. Tap or click a clue to pick its word, then type the group's name. After each letter the game moves to the next square of the chosen word. With a keyboard, Tab switches squares and the arrow keys move around the grid.

Type the name without spaces, punctuation or accents, and keep any digits: a digit in the name takes one square. A letter typed where two words cross counts for both, so solving one word helps you fill the other.

Check your answers as often as you like. While any square is empty or wrong, the grid stays open for editing; once every square is right, the round ends as solved. Confirming Reveal answers ends the round and shows the names. At the end, Show source lists each clue with the quoted passage and a link to the Wikipedia revision.

Where the K-pop Crossword data comes from

The clues come from accepted facts in the project database, such as each group's formation year, record label and members. Every fact has evidence in a Wikipedia revision, with the page ID, the revision number and the position of the quoted passage. Before publishing, the selection compares each clue with every group in the collected catalog and rejects a clue that fits more than one group. That check covers the collected catalog, not every K-pop group in existence.

The grid changes every day, with no group from the day before, and comes out only when the generator proves a single fit of the groups to the clues; otherwise the day has no crossword. Before showing the grid, the browser recomputes the file's SHA-256 fingerprint and checks crossings, numbering and sources. Wikipedia text is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0 and Wikidata data is CC0.

Does the crossword change every day?

Yes, at midnight Brasília time, with the same grid for everyone that day. Your progress is saved in this browser, and a finished round counts once in your stats.

Why does the grid accept only one spelling?

The grid uses the group's main spelling in the catalog, in capitals and without spaces, punctuation or accents. Aliases and other spellings stay out of the grid, but the selection checks that no group's alias matches another group's name.

What counts as a win in the stats?

Solving the grid with Check answers counts as a win. Reveal answers counts as a played round without a win. Playing again after the end does not change your stats.
